PROVIDING A SAFE AND EMPOWERING DEVELOPMENTAL SPACE FOR LGBTQ YOUNG PEOPLE IN DEVON
X-Plore provides a safe and empowering developmental space for young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people (including those who are unsure of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity).
You can meet others of a similar age in these safe spaces to hang out, meet new friends and support each other.
The X-plore Youth groups will:
empower you to understand and develop a healthy self-image
provide a safe space where you can explore and express your feelings and identity with others
help you make new friends
support you to be confident in who you are
support you to work together to challenge prejudice and discrimination
Coming Out can be a difficult and stressful process. ‘Questioning’ is a term used to describe people who are becoming aware of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity and are uncertain what this means in terms of their identity and relationships. This usually happens in teenage years. Because our society that often excludes LGBTQ+ issues from school topics of sex, family and relationships, when you begin to feel different to ‘the norm’ that is presented, it can be very confusing.
That's why it's really important to have safe, confidential spaces to openly discuss feelings, supported by professionally trained youth workers.
We would also like to thank our regular private donors.
